Vegan capsules with the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA from algae oil

The omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) occur naturally only in marine sources. Deep-sea fish absorb DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) through their algae food and therefore represent a resource for these important fatty acids. With the algae oil of the microalgae Schizochytrium sp, there is now a vegan alternative to fish that provides the body with EPA and DHA in a direct way. The algae grow in a closed system and are therefore an excellent and unpolluted omega-3 food.
While the inside of the capsule contains algae oil, the capsule shell consists of modified maize starch and completely does without gelatine. Thus the DHA capsules from algae are purely vegetable and particularly suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
