Healthy Skin, Hair, and Nails

The state of skin, hair, and nails reflects the state of health of each of us

The skin is the largest human organ in terms of surface area. It consists of different layers, which in their turn also consist of different parts. Together they perform certain functions, such as protective – both in terms of physiology and immunity; thermostatic, to a small extent respiratory, metabolic, endocrine, and others. On one square centimeter of skin there are six million cells, four meters of nerve fibers, fifteen sebaceous glands, two heat spots, twelve cold spots, two hundred tender spots, twenty-five pressure spots, and one meter of blood vessels.

To a large extent, the skin consists of collagen structures. Hair and nails share one important feature: their basis that is rich in keratin, a protein with high sulfur content.

Maintenance or restoration of the health and beauty of the skin, hair, and nails requires an integrated approach. First of all, it is important to identify and eliminate the following negative factors: presence of heavy metals in the body, hormone disbalance, constant contact with household detergents, excessive consumption of animal source foods, food intolerances, impaired intestinal flora, acid-alkaline disbalance in the body, as well as stress and sleep deprivation.

The use of micro- and macroelement formulations, special types of fatty acids, antioxidants, and certain nutrition makes it possible to positively influence the deep processes of formation and renewal of the substances of these parts of our body. The use of organic cosmetic products can help enhance the expected positive effect.

The formulas include vitamins such as A (carotenoids), vitamin B complex, in particular B1, B2, B6 and Folic Acid, vitamins C, E, Coenzyme Q10, high-quality vegetable amino acids, Gamma-Linolenic Acid, Omega-3 fatty acids, and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) that is valuable for the skin. It must be noted that Selenium and Zinc microelements maintain healthy state of nails and hair, while Copper contributes to normal pigmentation of hair (hair color). L-Cysteine amino acid is the most important constituent of Keratin, an important basis of hair and nails, as mentioned above. Silicon microelement is also contained in hair.

Biotin maintains a healthy state of not only hair, but also the skin. Apart from that, skin health is characterized by good blood perfusion and adequate moisture. An important accumulator of moisture in the skin is hyaluronic acid.

The above-listed components, as a rule, are present not only in formulations for oral administration, but also in cosmetic products: in special solutions for hair and scalp, in various face and body creams, as well as in restorative nail serums.

The positive effect is not immediate, since the rates of renewal of the skin, hair, and nails are different. Regeneration of the skin without any pathology lasts approximately twenty-eight days. With age, it can take longer, from forty to sixty days. The rate of hair growth is about 0.3–0.4 millimeters per day. From fifty to one hundred hairs are lost every day in a natural way. Nails grow about two or three millimeters per month, therefore their full regeneration takes from six to nine months.
