Menstrual Pain (Dysmenorrhea)

Dysmenorrhea is characterized by stabbing, spasmodic pains in the lower abdomen during the menstrual cycle in a woman's body. These pains can be accompanied by general weakness, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, depressive and, in some cases, syncopal state

Consumption of certain vitamin and mineral formulations, unsaturated fatty acids, herbal teas, as well as nutritional advice can help alleviate these symptoms.

The vitamin and mineral formulas consist of the vitamin B complex, vitamin E, and minerals (magnesium and iron). The most important B complex vitamins for dealing with dysmenorrhea are vitamins B1 and B6. Micronutrient supplementation with iron is particularly important for women and girls suffering from severe menstruation.

The anti-inflammatory properties of Omega-3 fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and Omega-6 Gamma-Linolenic acid in the form of capsules have proved effective in my practice. A large amount of Omega-3 fatty acids is contained in fish oil, krill, and algae. Gamma-Linolenic Acid is contained in evening primrose seeds (Oenothera biennis). I also recommend using oil formulations for cooking specially designed for women. They consist of Sea-Buckthorn fruit oil, flaxseed oil, almond oil, and argan tree oil. It should be added that one of the pioneers in the investigation of the beneficial effects of flaxseed oil on the human body cells was Dr. Johanna Budwig (1908–2003) nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1979.

Organic herbal mixtures for brewing have the following functions: harmonizing, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory functions. These mixtures consist of leaves and flowers of such plants as Feverfew, Purple Butterbur, Thousand-Leaf, Goose Grass, Lady's-Mantle, Balm, Shepherd's Purse, Leptospermum petersonii, Moroccan mint, and many others.

The main recommendations on nutrition include reduced consumption of animal source foods containing large amounts of arachidonic acid that supports inflammatory processes in the body of a woman, alkaline diet involving fruit and vegetables, and adequate water intake.
